Big Fish Day…..

Fri. Feb. 28, 2014…..Another chilly day, at least it was at the start. Guided Shaun Redgate, Forest, VA , today and we had a superb day. We started off nymphing with double nymph rigs and did very well. The RX nymph I have been tying worked like a charm. We caught two fish over 10lbs on it. We landed about 20 fish from 15 to 28.5″. We put 6 fish in the net over 20 inches. A bang up day for bigs . We had another half dozen 20 to 25 inch fish on that came off. It was great.

It was cold to start but warmed up to 48F and that felt like a heat wave compared to how it’s been the past few days. We saw a fair number of blue winged olives, but they weren’t as heavy as yesterday. Supposed to be a chilly night tonight with sleet and freezing rain here…….that will make things interesting. I still think spring is coming very soon.

Have a great weekend…..!
