Cool Day in the Mtns….
Fri. Aug 3, 2012….What a change, with a frontal boundary sagging across our area today was quite cool, 63F to start this morning on the New River near Independence, VA. Guided one of Mt regular clients Mike McKee from Chapel Hill, NC. It actually felt a little crisp wading in to thigh and waist deep. The water was in great shape, we didn’t smoke them but we did catch several fish on poppers and also several on clouser minnows sz 4 in chartreuse and white.
Pretty tough, the fish weren’t aggressive like the are normally, maybe some of that being the front that is right on us. When we left a thick cloud bank was out to the west and I noticed on radar an impressive line of thunderstorms were advancing our way. More wet weather I guess.
Hope your weekend is good, I will be doing a Smith River trip tomorrow and a guided trip with Dr Tom Wolff on Monday and we will be going after smallmouth.
Good fishing and tight lines….
