Mon. May 21, 2012…..What a challenging day, at least when I think about the dry fly fishing of last week. Guiding Joe Craig group including Joe, Tom Ross, Ron Davis, Bill Leinster, Wendell Ott, and Locke Clifford, and we have had a challenging day as we have had to nymph fish a good bit. Temps are right, the fish are ready to rise , just not a whole lot of bugs. We have caught a handful, probably 6 or 8, on dry flies, the rest on nymphs, probably 40 fish in all, with Ron Davis being the high man with most fish caught. Just a really unusal day with few fish rising.
We called it a day on the SoHo as the water came up on us at 400pm. We are now headed to fish Joe’s private spring creek, Blue Spring Creek, to catch some wiley brown trout. Looks like some serious storms are dotting the area, hopefully we can get in some fishing before we quit.
Will be guiding the group tomorrow also and looking forward to some cooler, wet weather and some rising fish….
Have a great evening…!
