Soggy Day, Challenging Fishing…..
Tues. May 8, 2010…….We knew today was going to be a challenge with the forecast for 80% rain. Guided Eloy Doolan, Alan Overby, Bob Dortz, and Rick Wells. It was blown out at the stream we intended to fish which was the special reg section of Virginia’s Whitetop Laurel. It was high and severely colored so we ended up fishing the upper South Holston in Virginia. We caught about 30 fish total, a handful on dry flies but the majority on deep double nymph rigs. These fish are all wild, 13-15 inch wild rainbows. So we salvaged what appeared to be a busted trip.
We left the stream under heavy rain and dark skies so I would not be surprised if its muddy tomorrow on the Virginia SoHo.
Will be receiving guests for the next two days’ trips, Sonny Lackey, Jeff Wayman, Shaun Redgate, and Fred Gebarowski. Should be great fun indeed.
Have a great evening…!
