This Weather Is Incredible…..So is The Fishing….
Wed. Mar. 14, 2012……Got in yesterday evening from a trip with Ed Roussel of Winston-Salem, NC, we had a good time exercising some rainbows and brookies on nymph rigs, we landed over 25 fish but I really didn’t keep count. Fishing was good, the water is in great shape where we were fishing. What I am finding is water levels are really good or really low depending upon the area or individual streams. Some places I am finding lots of water, NW NC and SW Va, but the further you go south things are pretty dry despite all the rains we’ve gotten. Some areas are showing barely 6.00″ to 7.5″ of rain for the year so far…which is below normal. So we need some rain. Looks like some is coming for later in the week.
Had a scheduled trip to private water in VA today that I rescheduled due to a family emergency. Will be back in the water tomorrow guiding Joe Knisely, Ken Okum, and Gene Giza from Glen Rock, PA on the TN South Holston tailwater. Blue winged olives and midges in droves….that’s the menu. At this rate, I expect sulphurs early April if we don’t get a lot of cold weather from here on out.
Have a great day today, will have more reports tomorrow from the river….
