Hot Start to June……
Wed…June 1, 2011……..I would say its hot but you know that already. It’s been incredibly hot and that means some terrestrial action will now really be front and center. Better have some beetles and ants in the box and some inchworms too.
Had an enjoyable day yesterday with Bill Leinster on a private water trip and we caught some great fish, many of them on dry flies. Our best fish was a red hot 26-28 inch rainbow on a size 18 sulphur dry……and the fish took nearly 5 minutes to land. It was a hoot and the fish really made the Sage large arbor reel sing. It was great.
Postponed an afternoon lesson with Brian Turpin of Danville, VA due to the 97-98F heat. We will be rescheduling another upcoming day.
Off tomorrow to guide Jim Fealy and Brian Donley of High Point , NC, we will be fishing private water. We will get a super early start to beat the heat.
